well it is raining again. there has been lots of rain in the last two wweeks. so much rain that it has taken six days to dry our clothes. WE FINALLY RELENTED AND HIRED A LOCAL LADY TO DO OUR WASHING WHICH COST US $5 a week. IT USually takes her about 3 hours. We are generous others would pay her $2 or $3. Yet i swear we do as much work moving it in and out. finally we just gave up and let it hang and get soaked again if it is less than 5o percent dry.
The river down the road outside the internet cafe is amazing. The water is at least 2 inches deep and covers the whole road. it´s impossible to stay dry when caught out in it even with an umbrella.
They say theweather here is changing too. Years ago October was windy and dry. There are now rapids in the river in the road. We are hoping the rains will cease soon. we´ve learnned alot. Black clothing .,books ect mold here something feirce.
LAST WEEKEND WE got together with Marcela and her Family. They toured around the northern part of El Salvador. The rut de flors. The root of floweres. We visited artistic towns, a gastrinaomical festival and several quaint little villages. We went to the top of a volcao and had some lunch. THE FLOWers are amazing. the brillance of the colors morado, amarillo, naraja, azul, rojo, verde and celestal.
We couldn´t belive it when we got home and saw we were only 40km from guatemala. Things are close here. lisa

Hi to all of you. It's lots of fun to read your log and learn how nice it is here at home sweet home! Did you have much trouble with the water and with tourista? Surely you drink bottled water?

Aloha kids,
Wow! What a huge contrast in lifestyle you're all experiencing!.....enjoying following your blog. Grandpa Jerry and I are flying to Maui for a mini vacation tomorrow. Looking forward to going on a cloud forest hike offered by the forest service, among other things. I know we won't have to tell you all to have fun in Honduras! Miss you, love you, Grandma Claudia.
Hi dear Ones Your blog is very interesting. You are building memories to have for years to come! We have been thinking about you a lot sending prayers for safety and for fun times.
I just came back from Ireland. Many stories to tell We can compare notes about Doolin. I met up with John and Louise in England who send their love to you all.
Ken and the twins stayed back for school. I made it back in time for Halloween. Being Junior Highers, Marina and Alex were in the crew that created the Haunted House. One of the dads is a huge Halloween fan and he brought all kinds of props like full size coffins and many gruesome objects. They had bags and bags of leaves scattered all over the floor of the classroom (which was being set up as the haunted house) to make it look like a graveyard. "Bodies" were rising up out of the graves. It was very very scarey but fun at the same time. I am not sure the school Principal was too thrilled. In the past the Haunted Houses have been very tame but because the dad brought all the props this one was a ripper!
WE are heading to Spencer Dec 20th. Thinking of you. Send an email if you want to Jacky@accentalaska.com
Love the Grahams
Its very cold today. Minus 2. Sunny and beautiful in Girdwood.
Bienvenidos from Copan, Honduras, site of the famous Mayan ruins! This blog is long overdue (24 days) but finally have time to update. Everyone is doing well. We had planned on making a trip north to the Bay of Islands, Honduras, in the Carribean but Treava tripped and fell on her chin in San Salvador which required medical attention to the tune of four stitches! Fortunately, the people that we were staying with had a brother who was a plastic surgeon so this was a welcome coincidence. The cut was underneath her chin so the scar will not show. Consequently, we had to put our trip north on hold for about a week while Treava´s skin mended. Plan B was to travel north to Copan, Honduras (as previously mentioned) and take a tour of the extraordinary Mayan ruins. This is an incredible historical record of their culture some 2000 years ago.
Chistmas vacation in El Salvador is November and December so Lisa will teach english to the teachers and Chris to the students (ably assisted by Noelle & Vienna).
El Salvador seems to have everything possible all packed into a small area: volcanoes, lakes, beaches (Pacific), farms, cities, ruins and wonderful people. The negative is that in San Salvador people lock themselves in jail at night with iron bar doors and razor wire. Security is apparently a problem although we have not had any problem.
About to run out of internet cafe time so must close for now ! Hello to all
Thanks for the email. Sounds like you are having the experience of a lifetime. Hi to all and enjoy your time in El Salvadore.
I printed all the blog to date including the comments and sent them to Jeanie so she can keep up without having a computer.

You are experiencing many new adventures. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and best wishes for a blessed Thanksgiving (even in the far south). Were you traveling on Thanksgiving or back "home"? We just might have to celebrate all the things you missed when you return... and you can share the new celebrations you participated in. It looks like you have just started your English classes. Vienna and Noelle will be wonderful teachers. I hope Treava's chin has healed up well. Miss you and blessings each day to you all!!!!
